"I wish" Simply Scrappin Kit - catalog p. 174

Below are closed and open views of the photo holder made from the "I Wish" simply scrappin kit and envelopes. I used a simliar photo holder designed by Heather Nichols to showcase the "I Wish" kit. I will be uploading other items I've made using this kit later. We may do one of these in one for the Christmas stamp camps but not with this kit. Although you can make tons of items out of these kits you would only be able to make 2 identical ones of this. If you click on the image you will notice the small loop of chocolate ribbon attacked to the red paper. This is where you pull out the photo matted on red paper. It's beautiful in real life.

Stamper's challenge

I need your feedback on this one. I am thinking about doing a VSN or Virtual Stamping Night and want to see if anyone's interested. Meaning I would post several challenges on here and you would do them at home. If I posted three challenges they might be:

  1. Make a card using the colors black, white, grey, and red

  2. Make a card using a paper piercing technique

  3. And then maybe a card sketch - make a card using the above layout. The Pocket Silhouettes card below that is made using Kiwi and Pacific fits this layout.

I would set it up as maybe a once per month thing, say on a Thursday night the week before stamp camp. You could do any of the challenges you wanted or all. You could bring what you made to camp. I would take pictures of what everyone did and post on this site.

September Stamp Camp

Melissa and I designed and made this Saturday night for September's stamp camp. It's a giant paper clip from the dollar spot at Target. If you like it and want to do more of them get there now and buy some. Cool things like this don't last long. Anyway it's a decoration for your desk and photo holder on the othe side. It's made using "Haunting Halloween"

Pocket Silhouettes

Kiwi and Pacific look beautiful together! Melissa came over and we played with both our new stamps. This was made with her "Pocket Silhouettes" set. Too pretty.

Flower for all Seasons

Do you like the first one or second one better?"A flower for all seasons" this is also one of my new favorites!

Below is a very long paper piercing Tutorial

When you get to the end of a page click "Older Posts" to go to the previous page.

The three layers are

Bottom- hard mat to protect your work surface.

Middle- cushion for piercer to run through, and to hold paper for inserting brads.

Top- actual template for proper spacing.

Stampin'Up! paper piercing template - sections by color

I will try here to exlain how each of the following paper piercings are done. If you have any questions or comments please email me. I don't know of anywhere else you can purchase this template other than Stampin'Up!
First - the picture above divides the template out by color. I will use the color to explain the pictures below.
Red- This is a closely spaced hole used for faux stitching and piercing designs.
Yellow- Same as the red but spaced further apart and great for brad spacing.
Teal- Jumbo eyelet placement
Green- Standard eyelet placement

Paper piercing a curved area

Find a starting point using the red area of the template. Notice how far the edge of the circle is from the guiding line that runs the length of the template. After piercing the first hole do not remove the piercer from the template. Pivot the template and line up the second hole. Pierce the second hole and don't remove until you reposition for the third hole. And so on around the entire circle.

Perfect spacing for brads

Line up your paper in the yellow area of the template. I pierced the corner and skipped to the second hole and pierced.
Remove the template and leave the paper on the cushion. Go ahead and insert the brads through the paper down into the cushion. It is so much easier than trying to hold it and do this. Remove the paper from the cushion, flip over and spread the backs of the brads.

Perfect Spacing for eyelets

Line up your paper in the green area of your template. Use a pencil to color in the holes to be punched.
Turn you punch upside down and line up your penciled holes.

Faux Stitching

Line up in the red area and pierce desired length. Use colored markers on white paper and white gel pen on dark colored paper to draw your stitch lines.

Just basic paper piercing designs

Use the red area to make unique designs

SNOW SWIRLED - LOVE IT!!!!!!

Long story short, I didn't get "Snow Swirled" on my first order from the new catalog and I was heart broken. My dearest, most coolest friend in the entire world (Melissa) let me borrow her's before she even got to use it. Can you say BIG THANK YOU!!!! :) Here are the two cards I made tonight. I can't wait to get mine and go crazy. I have been busy with my items for next camp and am up to 1 card and two projects. Still two more things to go. Mary - get with me on the Halloween card thing.

Blog info

Always click on the pictures I have posted to enlarge them and see the details. If you have not been on in a while click "Older Posts" at the end of the page to go back to previous posts. I really like to hear your feedback. Do you like what I post. I seldom hear from anyone so I don't know if it's worth it to keep up the site. I do enjoy doing it but I would like to know that others are getting something out of it. I have posted 2 tutorials so far and was thinking about maybe doing more in the future. Tell me your thoughts, email me at ffields@bellsouth.net

Also, make sure to read the posts in between the pictures, I'd hate for you to miss something important! HINT...HINT!!

Boho

I am really liking the Boho Backgrounds, One Of A Kind and the Boho Blossoms Punch. I can see myself making lots of neat things with these three.
Yes, I did sneak in another "Pick A Petal" card. Isn't that red Thank You card cute! And then the fusion flowers on the For You card. We have a new set of fusion flowers in the catalog in Baha, Pink, and Chocolate. They are so pretty. Email me if you would like me to give you samples of the new "In Colors"
Have you finished your wish lists yet? Email me a copy of your list and you are entered for a chance to win a free mini card kit designed and prepped by me.

Mum card

The mum card in the picture below is made using the 5 petal flower punch. We will be making this at September's stamp camp along with several Halloween treat projects. I won't be doing any Halloween cards but would be glad to help design some for those that are interested......Mary

Brocade Basics

I just love this stamp set and have rarely gotten around to using it. Claudette found a card on the internet and I had to copy it. I did change a few things but here is the end product.

Scallop punch flower Tutorial

This is made using Stampin Up's scallop circle punch and their build a brad for the center. Click on each picture for a larger more detailed view.

To make the flower I used the scallop punch from Stampin'Up! and punched from Orchid Opulence. Then I used repositional tape and stuck the scallop to thin printer paper. Stuck it back in the punch and lined it up to where the valleys of the scallop punch were lined up with the peak of the cut scallops. Make sense? Then punch again. Now take Perfectly Plum and sponge ink the center and outside egdes before cutting the petals. Find the center and punch a small hole for the brad that will go on last. Use this hole for reference. Curl the edges using the bone folder. Then you just make cuts down each valley with scissors alternate shorter one then longer one.

Stamp Camp Aug 8th

Here are the other three of the stamp camp cards. The first one is made using Pick a Petal stamped on vellum. This is not exactly how we will be doing the one in class but very close. The last two cards for camp are the first two cards from my previous post.
