Tutorial for watercolor "cheat" technique

This is the technique we used in class for September to make the Bloomin Beautiful and Bellas Border card. If you scroll down you will see it. Below is a detail of the steps to achieve this look. I have to tell that on this one I only recomend using watercolor paper, your image stamped with Stazon, and using Stampin' Up's blender pens. I do not get the same result with off brand blenders. I suggest SU's inks, but you can use others you may already have as long as they are waterbased dye ink. Below you will see how each step looks after it has dried. So here goes...

Flower Petal Coloring

Do only a small area at a time – like one petal at a time

  • Pick up ink on the blender pen and color the dark lines or shadow spots only.

  • Wipe some of the color from the blender, wait 10 seconds, then use the blender to pull the darker color to the white areas.

  • DO NOT PICK UP MORE INK FROM THE PAD. Don’t keep going over the area more than 2 times – the paper will pill up.

  • Next petal ….pick up ink... After all petals are done leave for 5 minutes (at least)

  • You will do this step 3 times. Always wait 5 minutes between.

  • The last step is to outline with the fine tip of marker. Only slightly blend this line. Wait 5 minutes

  • Mask the flower. Use a dauber to sponge So Saffron around flower and stem.
